THE INVISIBLE MAN
1933
The Invisible Man (1933) stands alone as being the greatest adaptation of H.G. Wells' story because it follows the novel's storyline and captures the atmosphere of the original work.
PLOT:
Scientist Dr Jack Griffin disappears from his lab, leaving his colleagues Dr Kemp and Dr Cranley wondering where he has disappeared to. Meanwhile, a strange man arrives at a country inn, dressed in a hat and long coat and covered in bandages, and acting very mysteriously. When the other residents of the inn claim that this man is 'invisible', police assume they are suffering some sort of group delusion. Some time later Dr Griffin returns to see his colleague Dr Kemp, only now he is invisible and suffering from the side effects of the drugs he has used which are slowly turning him insane. With his friends trying to help him and the police trying to catch him, Griffin's inability to find a cure continues to eat at his sanity, sending him into a crazed frenzy...
